Felting spinning and calligraphy and the book arts are also some of my interests.
I believe visual art plays an important role in the life of worship. The images and symbols connect and bring us into the story and presence of God. Visual art can touch the spirit and speak to us in new ways as we gather together to worship the Creator.
In planning the design I like to begin with conversation with the committee. When possible I visit the facility and try to incorporate design elements from the worship space into the weaving, or harmonize the weaving with the space. I use a variety of fibers such as, cotton, linen, wool, rayon, and metallic. The woven pieces are usually backed and lined. Weaving is a slow process and I usually need at least a three month window for designing and weaving a project.
