I am stimulated by images in nature and the environment. It is a source of energy and ideas. I believe art is a personal language continually growing and developing. My paintings are a celebration of life. Different mediums have been pursued. Watercolor is my favorite choice for its spontaneity and mysterious qualities - oil for its range and depth - acrylic for quick drying and flat layering - monotype for experimental freedom. Art has been my balance in life, passion, inspiration, work and healing. Collections include the Weisman Art Museum, Minnesota HIstory Society, Minnesota Museum of American Art, Augsburg-St. Catherine-Luther-ConcordiaU-St. Olaf-Gustavus Adolphus, Bethel as well as numerous private and corporate collections.
My career in the Arts has been a life long commitment of seventy years with 56 One Woman exhibitions plus juried and group shows. My Art Education Master degree is from the University of Minnesota with summer school with the University of New Mexico at Taos. Summer school courses also taken at the Cranbrook Academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. I have taught, lectured, and exhibited regionally, nationally, and internationally. My teaching experience includes the University of Minnesota, Concordia University-St. Paul, and Augsburg College. Many years as an artist-in-resident at Holden Village, a Lutheran family retreat center in Washington State, were productive. Most recent teaching a class was "Paint the Town" with Lifelong Learning.
