His compositional style is text-driven and emotive, built on rich harmonies and melodies that unfold naturally and evocatively. He strives for his music to be personal, relatable, and honest.
A native of New Ulm, MN, Philip Biedenbender is the recipient of the Richard Hillert Award in Student Composition from the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and the Center for Church Music at Concordia University Chicago. As a collaborative pianist, he has worked with numerous ensembles and organizations including the St. Olaf Choir, the Florida State University Chamber Choir, and the College Light Opera Company. He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Theory/Composition from St. Olaf College and is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Florida State University.
