I take a whimsical, candy-colored approach to the natural world and to human interaction.
I draw inspiration from prisms of color, then find both subtle variations and high contrasts within that palette.
Acrylic is my primary medium because I love the bright pigments and the ease of use. I look at each acrylic painting as a three-dimensional object, with wrap-around edges, bold perspective and imagery, and folding layers of paint.
I experiment with plein air watercolor painting, as it captures the light and atmosphere of the Minnesota seasons. I also immerse myself in large-scale work by painting murals for non-profit organizations.
