Founded in 1894 by The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Concordia University, Nebraska is a private, coeducational institution of higher learning. The main campus is located in Seward, Neb. (population 7,000), about 25 miles west of Lincoln, the state capitol. The graduate school and degree completion program are based in Lincoln.

Concordia’s studio art program prepares you in a variety of disciplines, from ceramics to new media studies to film production. Concordia’s Saturday Art School is a unique extra-curricular experience that places art education majors in the classroom as teachers working directly with children.

A degree in art therapy provides you with a quality foundation for you to use your creative process to help people of all ages improve their health and emotional well-being.

A degree in arts administration opens up a multitude of opportunities to combine business with art. As an art administrator, you might facilitate the day-to-day operations of an arts organization, such as a theater, museum, concert hall, or dance company. Some of your responsibilities may include marketing, event booking, finances, and strategic planning.


At Concordia, we believe the starting point for studies in theatre is the development of the individual student’s voice. Both in and out of the classroom, you will find space to examine who you are, what you believe and how you can impact others.

With a degree in theatre from Concordia, you will learn to exercise your voice in prose and poetry, drama and debate, and research and relationships. Theatre teaches you communication skills, creative problem solving, and innumerable other traits that offer valuable preparation for any career.


Concordia’s music department exists to prepare students to glorify God through the study, performance and teaching of music in the church and the world. As a university accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, we have award winning, published professors, and offer the largest music program in the GPAC. When you graduate with your bachelor’s degree in music, you will be able to perform, create, analyze and understand music in its historical, cultural, and religious context.
