Takach\\\'s choral writing is text-driven. His melodies are always a beautiful pair with the words and his harmonic language is rich and evocative. A singer himself, he favors natural voice leading for all parts, and he has an intuitive way of using the singers\\\' range for maximum effect. He has made a name for himself by finding unique, deeply meaningful poems to guide his music.

Takach has collaborated with many poets for his work, setting their existing work, and also commissioning new poetry for his music. He has written over 20 pieces with contemporary poets including Julia Klatt Singer (14), Joyce Sutphen (3), Michael Dennis Browne (2), Anthony Silverstri (1) Doug Wilhide (1), and over 6 others.
