Cross View plans to curate an exhibit of artists’ interpretations of paradise throughout the centuries including the work of contemporary artists. We are looking at "Paradise" in the very broadest of terms beginning with the Garden of Eden. The vision is that paradise starts in Eden and ends in heaven. So images of Eden and heaven (from realism to abstract, historic to contemporary) are appropriate, as are images of earthly glory (i.e., expressions of love, nature, joy, peace, etc.).
We anticipate that the exhibit will have an overall aura of the joy, peace and glory of abiding with God as depicted by artists throughout the centuries. Biblical narrative works are also on our radar. Images that speak to Eden and heaven such as Jacob's Ladder or the Tree of Life would be a good fit for this exhibit
To that end, we are reaching out to institutions and private collectors to borrow art which represents this subject matter, which will be a “re-mix” exhibit with artists who have recently been award winners in our juried exhibit.
Exhibit dates: January 2019 – Feb. 2019, to coincide with Cross View’s 50th anniversary as a congregation.
