Brian De Young Brian De Young is a pianist, organist and conductor working in the Greater Grand Rapids area and throughout West Michigan. He has held positions as an accompanist and vocal coach at Grand Valley State University, Dordt College, the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus, and Saugatuck Civic Theatre. Brian is also an active solo and ensemble accompanist, and has collaborated with musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Opera Omaha, and many other ensembles.

Brian received his Bachelor of Arts from Dordt College and is currently doing graduate study in church music at Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He has served churches in Minnesota and Iowa, and currently serves as Director of Music at Zion Lutheran in Comstock Park, MI.


Brian is passionate about the sacramental experience of music making in several contexts. He loves seeing the amazing things God does when people come together to make music, be it in worship, on a concert stage, or in their homes.

Brian feels privileged to foster these experiences in many ways. He directs the choir and leads congregational song at Zion Lutheran Church near Grand Rapids. He also accompanies instrumental students at Grand Valley State University, performs with two professional chamber music ensembles, and frequently performs with local theatre groups.

Brian operates a piano studio in Grand Rapids where he teaches students of all ability levels, focusing especially on fostering the gifts of young children.
